Grace Bedell was an 11-year old girl in Westfield, New York when she wrote to Abraham Lincoln in 1860, suggesting he should grow whiskers. Bedell later married and moved to Delphos, Kansas, where she lived the rest of her life.(http://home.att.net/~rjnorton/Lincoln50.html)
