Scope and Content

Scope and content: A microfilmed volume containing testamentary statements and corresponding executors bonds, documenting the selection and bonding of individuals to be administrators of decedents' estates. The testamentaries are signed by an heir, spouse, or other individual and certify that the final will is true, as well as naming an administrator to manage the estate. The bonds state the name of administrator, date of appointment, name of estate, affidavit of death, amount and condition of bond, and affidavit of sureties. If the estate is to be administrated by a spouse or named heir, then no bond is necessary. If the estate is to be administered by a third party, then a bond is required by probate law. Includes an index organized alphabetically by decedent name.
