Hours: 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Tuesday - Friday; 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.  Saturday

The “On the Move” temporary exhibit is still open. This exhibit highlights the Kansas Historical Society’s material culture displays that began at the Kansas State Capitol in the 1890s. That history includes exhibits in cramped quarters at the Capitol, then a move across the street to the new Memorial Hall, across town to west Topeka, and nearly 40 years later when the Kansas Museum of History is closed for major renovations. This look back examines the collecting and display of three-dimensional artifacts over time. It documents the complex process of carefully moving these items to a new facility especially designed for preservation and security. Discover more about the Kansas Museum of History and glimpse the exciting new layout to come. Come take a look before the exhibit is dismantled this summer!
