Steve Watkins

Steven Charles Watkins was born September 18, 1976, in San Antonio, Texas. Watkins lived in Topeka where he attended high school. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1999. Watkins holds master's degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. He was stationed at Fort Richardson in Alaska and saw combat along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. He served five years in active duty with the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of captain. Watkins competed in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in 2015, finishing 58th place.

He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from the second district in 2018. He was sworn into office on January 3, 2019.
