Todd Tiahrt
Politician. Republican. Born: June 15, 1951, Vermillion, South Dakota. Served in U.S. House of Representatives, 4th District: January 3, 1995, to January 3, 2011.
On June 15, 1951, Kansas Representative Todd Tiahrt was born in Vermillion, Clay County, South Dakota. He attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology at Rapid City and graduate from Evangel College of Springfield, Missouri, in 1975. In 1989, Tiahrt received an M.B.A. from Southwest Missouri State University and taught at Kansas Newman College in Wichita, Kansas; he also worked as proposal manager for Boeing Company. An unsuccessful candidate for election for the Kansas state house of representatives in 1990, Tiahrt won a seat in the state senate in 1992 and was first elected to represent the Fourth Congressional District in 1994. He ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Sam Brownback, who became the 46th Governor of Kansas.
