A Day in My Community - Guide
Day in My Community
Life in Kansas on October 11, 2001, was preserved for future generations through more than 4,000 letters. This effort was a project of the Kansas Association for Family & Community Education (FCE). The letters are now a part of the collection of the Kansas State Historical Society.
Individuals from age six to 90 participated in the letter-writing effort. The submissions, written by individuals from Kansas communities small and large, ranged from one page to more than 50 pages. The letters were handwritten, typed, and sometimes illustrated. Of the state's 105 counties, 73 are represented among the collection.
