  • First native-born Kansan elected governor, served two terms
  • Served five terms as U.S. senator
  • Owned and published Capper’s Weekly and Topeka Daily Capital
  • Established what became Easter Seals Capper Foundation to aid children with disabilities
  • Initiated programs that eventually became the 4-H movement
