Jeremy Bates

Jeremy Bates was born August 27, 1976, in Manhattan, Kansas. Bates is the son of National Football League and college coach Jim Bates. Bates attended Sevier County High School in Sevierville, Tennessee. He played quarterback for the University of Tennessee in 1995 and for Rice University in 1997 and 1999. In 2002 Bates began coaching for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an offensive quality control coach. The Buccaneers won the Super Bowl that year and in 2004 Bates was promoted to assistant quarterback coach. In 2005 Bates became the quarterback coach for the New York Jets. From 2006 to 2008 Bates worked for the Denver Broncos as an offensive assistant, wide receiver/quarterback coach, and finally as a quarterbacks coach. In 2009 Bates was the assistant head coach of offense and quarterback coach for the University of South Carolina. In 2010 Bates accepted the offensive coordinator position for the Seattle Seahawks. In 2012 Bates became the quarterback coach for the Chicago Bears.
