K0050583 Public Service Executive II: State of Kansas | Position Description

This position heads the archives division and reports to the executive director of the agency. A member of the management team, the position works to develop along with the executive director an agency five-year plan. It is employee’s responsibility to communicate planning goals to his/her staff and ensure the division is working toward agency priorities as well as division objectives. The individual is responsible for developing, proposing, and administering division policies; listening to the views of his/her staff in regards to new ideas and is charged with presenting new initiatives to the executive director.

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all building HVAC systems, plumbing systems and electrical systems for the Kansas Historical Society main campus, including the Potawatomi Mission and warehouse, plus Cedar Crest. The position also provides support services for other historic sites throughout the state. Full time rotation, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., five days a week, rotating Monday - Saturday. Position open until filled.

K0040923 - Archeologist II | State of Kansas | Position Description

This position conducts cultural resource investigations primarily for the Kansas Department of Transportation and occasionally for other agencies and organizations. These include field investigations of proposed project areas, archeological sites, and other cultural resources, and Phase II field surveys to locate and document sites. The position follows federal and state guidelines and professional methods and techniques as outlined by the Kansas State Historical Preservation Office and other sources.  Work involves clearing construction projects for impact on cultural resources or recommending further work. The employee works independently but is expected to consult frequently with the supervisor and co-workers.

Kansas Historical Foundation

The Historical Foundation employs people in fundraising, retail sales, membership development, and clerical positions. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation that supports the programs of the Historical Society.
