K0244096 Custodial Specialist | State of Kansas | Position Description
This position provides a high level of cleaning in all areas of service and facility spaces. Some spaces would include public use areas such as restrooms, lobbies, break rooms, galleries, classrooms and hallways. Samples of some duties would include cleaning and disinfecting all surface areas, window and glass cleaning and all types of floor maintenance such as vacuuming, carpet cleaning, mopping, scrubbing and waxing.
K0243617 Archeologist - NAGPRA Coordinator | State of Kansas | Position Description
This position will be responsible for identifying tribal affiliations evaluation and research of currently held skeletal remains within the Kansas Historical Society collections. They will consult with the National Park Service’s National Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) program and submit current active inventory and summary updates. This position will also be in consultation with multiple Tribal Nations for validation or adjustment of findings to create the most accurate record for compliance with NAGPRA.

This position is responsible for timely reviews of projects in accordance with state and federal laws for the protection of historic properties; educates public and government officials about protective laws; reviews projects submitted by property owners, federal and state agencies and local governments through the Kansas Review & Compliance system and analyzes their potential to affect the state’s archeological resources; reviews and evaluates reports for conformance with the Kansas SHPO’s Guide to Archeological Survey, Assessment and Reports. Candidates must have a graduate degree in archeology, anthropology, or closely related field.
K0056788 General Maintenance and Repair Technician | State of Kansas | Position Description
This position is responsible for grounds/landscape services, small and heavy equipment operations, maintenance and repair work, and for building maintenance duties required at the Kansas Historical Society, which includes the Kansas Museum of History, State Archives, Potawatomi Mission, Stach School, and warehouse. The site has a total of 80 acres and a variety of landscape settings with different and special needs (groomed landscapes, special landscape plantings and a nature trail with historic and natural interpretations).

The Land Survey Program Coordinator will organize and provide public access to land survey records housed in the State Archives. The Land Survey program is mandated through legislation and is a vital component of the Public Records section of the State Archives.

The Historical Foundation employs people in fundraising, retail sales, membership development, and clerical positions. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation that supports the programs of the Historical Society.
