Kansas Day at the Museum

The  annual Kansas Day at the Museum has been canceled for 2024.  Visit Kansas Day in the Classroom for resources to use in your classroom or virtually.

On January 29, 2024 Kansas will celebrate its 163rd birthday!  Traditionally, the Kansas Historical Society offers Kansas Day events for schools and the public at the Kansas Museum of History. A redesign of the museum's exhibits means it is not possible to celebrate in person at the museum this January, but resources are available to help you create your own unique Kansas Day experience.

Public transportation in Topeka

Topeka Metro provides transportation for class visits to the Kansas Museum of History.

• Requires walking and service is limited

Bus grants

The Kansas Museum of History and Kansas State Capitol have partnered with Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area, which offers help with 75 percent of funding towards transportation costs.
