Reproduction of the original watercolor (top) showing the design of the east wing of the Kansas state capitol, Topeka, prepared in 1866 by E. Townsend Mix, the architect, for the boar of state house commissioners. At the bottom is a 1971 photograph of the Statehouse by Earl Kintner, Historical Society staff photographer, looking northwest from the Memorial building, with the east wing at the right. Final changes made in Mix's plans for the roof and portico were an improvement, as one will note in comparing the two pictures.
