The Cover
"The Battle of Wolves," by Charles M. Russell, illustrates the constant struggle for survival among animal life inhabiting the Great Plains in the middle 1800s. Buffalo and wolves were both in great numbers before white settlers took over. (See pp. 123, 124, 134.)
