Effective June 2: Open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Wednesday - Saturday; Museum Store: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Wednesday - Saturday. The Discovery Place will not be available at this time.

Kansas State Capitol Visitor Center

Effective June 14: Open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday; 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday; Capitol Store: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday; 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday


  • Historic: Monday - Friday 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.
  • Historic: Saturday 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.
  • No dome tours are available at this time

In an effort to keep Kansans safe while also providing necessary services, the public can:

  • Schedule appointments at the State Archives
  • Visit state offices by appointment
  • Visit select historic sites. Contact individual state historic sites for specific hours and information

Please call or email to schedule an appointment and allow 48 hours for us to respond. Anyone entering a state office building, including state historic sites, is required to wear a mask, following Executive Order 20-52. Temporary masks are available if needed.

State Archives

The State Archives are open Wednesday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m and the last Saturday of the month 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Restricted to six researchers at a time. We encourage visitors to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome if there is availability. To schedule an appointment, contact Lauren Gray, lauren.gray@ks.gov; 785-272-8681, ext. 284.

When you visit

You can expect the following safety procedures: face coverings, frequent cleaning, plexiglass shields at check-in points, and physical distancing.
