  • U.S. census is available every 10 years (1790, 1800 - 1940)
  • Kansas census is available every 10 years (1855 - 1925)

Consult an index


  • If necessary, try variant spellings, middle names, initials, nicknames, neighbors, alternate locations: Smith, Smyth, Schmidt.
  • Use a census form to document age, gender, marital status, occupation, others in household, neighbors, etc.
  • Search in order from latest to earliest census throughout a person's lifetime.
