Contents: States that "White Plume", a Kansas chief has reported that a war party of his people are on their way against the Pawnees, & have been joined by a small band of Otoes. The band has stolen horses & mules. White Plume was unable to get his people to return the property. Asks Clark's advice in dealing with the thieves. Also reports some isolated difficulties between Indians & whites, causing deaths in some cases.

Contents: Describes deaths among the Otoes including a great chief, Iaton, caused by a drunken frolic & fighting over squaws. Mentions trouble between Omahaws & Pawnees, in which seven Pawnees were killed. Also mentions the missionary, Dr. Satterly, being killed by the Pawnees. Daugherty states that from all he could learn, Satterly either froze to death or starved.

Contents: States that he will arrive in St. Louis about Oct. 15, 1837 with a deputation of Indians from Otoe, Omaha & Pawnee tribes on the way to Washington. Says it is a good time to confer, as the Otoe & Omahas are unhappy with the "no hunting" policy of the Potawatomies. Thinks it would be good to have Caldwell, the Potawatomie chief go to Washington also.
