Scope and content: Series contains files and tri-folded documents of Kansas House of Representatives & Senate bills, vetoed bills, resolutions, journal work papers, educational & drafting tools, lists of registered lobbyists, communication files, and annual reports submitted by various state agencies, task forces, & interest groups to the Legislature for consideration during the drafting of laws during the legislative session. The records are required to be kept by the Secretary of State's Office for the State Legislature. Documents in box 72-02-09-01 contain notable items such as the Senate Concurrent Resolution ratifying the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution abolishing slavery; Bill No. 3, An act to incorporate cities, towns, villages, and agricultural districts, 1862; an 1862 bill on Senate special elections; an act for proposed spelling reform, 1864; various acts for the sale of bonds, 1862, 1868; an 1865 act to establish criminal court in Leavenworth; an undated document beginning with "Section 7" regarding bond payments; House Bill 201 regarding Todd divorce case, 1861; House Bill 222 regarding Bruner relief, 1861; House Bill 224 regarding Marquette divorce case, 1861; Senate Resolution 10 contracting John McCarthy to build the Kansas State Penitentiary, 1865; an 1866 statement regarding issuing bonds; an 1867 bill requiring the printing of annual reports of the Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Auditor of State, & other state officials; and Bill No. 275 directing the printing of the annual reports of state offices, state annual reports, & the Governor's Annual Message.
