Scope and content: A letter of resignation from J. Christie as Justice of Peace of Miami County. In the letter, Christie recommends Alex S. Fowler as a suitable person to be appointed in his stead. A petition from citizens of Miami County request F. A. Niles as Justice of Peace. A letter on August 31, 1872, from Lew J. Best, Mitchell County Clerk, informs Governor Harvey they have organized a new township called Turkey Creek, and request Frank Ellis be appointed Justice of Peace of their township. Additional documents are from citizens of townships within Mitchell County asking that Kansas Governor Harvey appoint specific individuals as Justice of Peace.
