Scope and content: A petition from citizens of Ellsworth County request Kansas Governor Harvey appoint C. B. Whitney as Sheriff. A letter from George Geiger informs the Governor that there is a petition to have him appointed as Probate Judge but that he does not desire the position. A petition to have John H. Edwards appointed as Probate Judge of Ellsworth County. A letter from M. W. Henry, County Clerk, notifies the Governor there are vacancies in the Office of Sheriff and Coroner for Ellsworth County. In Henry?s letter, he states the Board of County Commissioners recommends C. B. Whitney as Sheriff and Hugh Tulity for Coroner. Additional documents are related to vacancies in Ellsworth, Kansas.
