Scope and content: The documents in this file pertain to various matters concerning lands in the State of Kansas. The first letter on April 13, 1869, from C. McKeever, Assistant Adjunct General, discusses settlers on the Sac and Fox reservation and states no orders have been given to have the settlers removed. A letter from the Department of Interior, April 22, 1870, encloses a copy of a list of lands selected by the State of Kansas under the Act of September 4, 1841, granting 500,000 acres for internal improvement purposes. A letter on October 11, 1870, from L. A. Gronlund, requests a tax statement of taxes owed on the 7,000 acres land purchased by the Scandinavian Agricultural Society, in Republic County, Kansas.
