Scope and content: A letter on January 10, 1870, from G. T. Weaver, writes to Kansas Governor Harvey about the seat of the Kansas Representative-Elect from Cherokee County and recommends Amos Sanford. A letter from Sheriff of Cherokee County, Joshua S. Vincent, informs the Governor there is no need to have troops stationed on the neutral lands and requests the troops withdrawn from their county. A letter on October 7, 1870, from Secretary of War, William W. Belknap, encloses a certified copy of Governor Harvey?s letter of May 24, 1869, requesting troops be sent to the Cherokee Neutral Lands to preserve the peace.
