Summary: Photograph of the mission Church at Trampas New Mexico. This church was erected by the Spanish colonizers of the village. Because it was to be dedicated to the twelve apostles, it was decreed that only twelve men would be permitted to engage in its construction. The Church was begun in 1580 and was twelve years in the building, being completed in 1592. The bells which hung in the twin towers were made of gold and silver mixed with other metals.
