Date: [Undated]

Level of Description: Item

Material Type: Photograph

Call Number: ATSF Image 959 (Series 1 #6-121)

Summary: The deck on a full scale version of the Santa Fe Railway's "coaxial train" will only be 24 inches above the rail compared to 42 to 46 inches for a standard flat car, as shown by these 1/8 scale models. The reduced height will produce a lower center of gravity, less wind turbulence under the cars, all contributing to the unique trains ability to operate at high speed over existing road-beds.
