Special Opening Event - Kaw Mission and Last Chance Store State Historic Site
Please join us for the special opening of Kaw Mission and Last Chance Store State Historic Site. Activities will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at Kaw Mission, 500 Mission, Council Grove. Following the ceremony visitors can explore Kaw Mission’s new exhibits, interactive elements, short informational films, and museum store. Visitors can also ride a trolley to Last Chance Store, courtesy of the Council Grove Area Trade & Tourism Association, to discover examples of items traders stocked in their wagons before journeying west to Santa Fe. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Kaw Heritage. Overflow parking and trolley rides to and from the site will be available at Council Grove Junior Senior High School, 129 Hockaday Street.
