“Without Warning: The Tornado of Udall Kansas”
Kansans have always had a fascination with weather, especially tornados. There have been some memorable twisters in the state, but none as deadly as the Udall tornado. Without warning, an F5 tornado plowed through the small Kansas town of Udall on the night of May 25, 1955. Within three minutes much of the town was destroyed. Sadly 85 people lost their lives and another 270 were injured in this community of 600. Minick’s book “Without Warning: The Tornado of Udall Kansas” tells the story of the deadliest tornado on record from the survivors’ perspective. It is a touching story of devastation and survival.
This program will also stream live on the Kansas Historical Society YouTube channel.
