"Dress for Success: Nelly Don and American Fashion" - Marla Day, curator Historic Costume and Textile Museum at Kansas State University
Ellen “Nell” Quinlan Donnelly made quite a name for herself in the fashion industry of the 20th century. Better known as Nelly Don, this native Kansan built a fashion empire of affordable stylish clothing for women of all ages and economic incomes. Not only was she well known for her fashions, Nelly Don’s successful company treated employees fairly and humanely at a time when the industry standards were far from that. Her story is one of innovation and hard work.
