The Women of Brown

The landmark Brown v. Board of Education case is a well-known story that made a significant impact on American society. What isn’t as well-known are the contributions of twelve Black women who were at the forefront of the civil rights movement as plaintiffs in this historic case. Their contributions are essential to the story of the Brown decision. This presentation by KHS Museum Curator Donna Rae Pearson will shine a light on their stories and ensure their names are not forgotten. “The Women of Brown” program is part of Humanities Kansas’s Speakers Bureau.
