Charles Koch

Engineer. Born: 1936.

Charles Koch (pronounced "Coke") was an MIT- educated engineer when he went to work for one of his father Fred’s companies in Italy. When Fred died in 1962, Charles took charge of the family businesses. Under his leadership, Koch Industries has grown into one of the largest privately owned corporations in the United States.

Much of the focus of Koch Industries is on oil and gas. It also owns pipelines, chemical companies and cattle ranching operations. Its headquarters are in Wichita. The Koch brothers are quite wealthy, probably in the billions of dollars range. They also have many outside personal interests. Charles was inducted into the Kansas Business Hall of Fame in 1997
