Lewis Walt
U.S. Marine Corps General. Born: 1913. Died: 1989
Lewis Walt, a native of Harveyville, joined the Marine Corps in the 1930s. During his years in service he had a variety of assignments in the United States and overseas during World War II, the Korean War and the war in Vietnam. In 1968 he was promoted to the rank of General. During the next three years General Walt was assistant commandant of the Marines.
