Nolan Cromwell
Nolan Cromwell was born January 30, 1955, in Smith Center, Kansas. Cromwell attended the University of Kansas and played both football and track. He played safety his freshman and sophomore years and then switched to quarterback his junior and senior years. Cromwell was named honorable mention all-American for football and was an all-American track runner. In 1977 the Los Angeles Rams selected Cromwell second overall in the NFL draft. Cromwell played safety for the Rams from 1977 to his retirement in 1987. He was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Year in 1980 and Football Digest’s NFL Defensive Back of the Year in 1984.
Cromwell served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Rams in 1991. From 1992 to 1997 Cromwell worked as a special teams coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, and in 1998 was the wide receivers coach for the Packers. Cromwell was the wide receivers coach for the Seattle Seahawks from 1999 to 2007, and then spent two years as the offensive coordinator for Texas A & M University. Cromwell returned to the NFL as the wide receivers coach for the St. Louis Rams in 2010 and in 2012 became the senior assistant to the Cleveland Browns.
