Civil War pamphlets on microfiche
The CIVIL WAR PAMPHLETS ON MICROFICHE (KSHS microfiche no.186) represents 1,758 pamphlet titles from the collections of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. These pamphlets--an inexpensive medium in the 19th century for expressing opinion--reflect the generation-long battle of words that exacerbated the economic, ideologic, and political divisions between the North and the South and culminated in the Civil War.
Researchers will find a treasure-trove of primary sources--biographies, campaign literature, government documents, journals, maps, sermons, speeches and the like--that illustrate the opinions and attitudes that led to war, and that war's impact on American history.
A listing of the general topics of the pamphlets follows. Selecting any topic brings up a listing of the pamphlet titles in ATLAS.
